HITCHHIKING JANE
She came to town one day
Sweet hitch-hiking Jane
She came down from a grey big truck
Down in the parking lane
The kids by the boathouse
Were fishing for her smile
But she just kept on going by
And sat down by my side
She said; I may be here for a minute or a year
And there's no ties to hold me down
She whispered in my ear
I may be here for a minute or a year
And there's no ties to hold me down
I go where truckers steer
Now Jane was the sweetest
God's out with his knife
I and as the trucker pulled away
She came into my life
We had a good thing going
Me and hitch-hiking Jane
but then one day she had to leave
And nothing was the same
Since the day that she left me
I've felt out of place
I hang out where the truckers go
I hope to see her face
Now this was the story
When someone called my name
I heard it from a grey big truck
And down came hitch-hiking Jane
She said; I may be here for a minute or a year
And there's no ties to hold me down
She whispered in my ear
Now, I may be here for a minute or a year
And there's no ties to hold me down
I go were truckers steer
Now Jane was smiling
As she crossed the parking lane
And somehow she just never saw
The blue truck in the rain
The trucker pulled the breaks
But he was to slow
I reached my hands out
Felt Janes fingers
But I had to let her go
She said; I may be here for a minute or a year
And there's no ties to hold me down
She whispered in my ear
Oh, Jane
My hitchhiking, hitchhiking Jane
My Jane, my Jane, my Jane
My hitchhiking Jane
My hitchhiking Jane
